Here are some notes we discussed on AIM:
- Potentially go Animated? (gif image) - Possibly avoid green because the background is green and it wouldn't contrast well - It needs to pop a bit, make it completely noticeable that it's not a natural structure - We can use our Tribe Flag

could we make the letters S.O.S out of sticks perhaps?
or an arrow pointing to us out of palm fronds? maybe with rocks around it?

I think there were a lot of ideas in the AIM chat.
We might destroy two palm tress and make a giant X of them. Because who doesn't notice two fallen palm trees in the shape of an X. they might think it's treasure. then they see S.O.S next to it. And if they are kind hearted souls. Will pay attention.

i started working on a rough draft of the image, but was swept away by roommate so i haven't finished 100%. i made SOS out of branches and i'm making a platform that will have small black specks and pieces of palm moving. also, there will be a moving flag along the bottom of the image. i'll have a non-animated image to show everyone hopefully by the morning.

Rough DraftI wanted everyone to get an idea of what I have so far. The colors are limited, but I know the judging will be very tough and it's crucial that we stick to the rules and keep everything as realistic (and proportional) as possible. Wood is one of the largest resources of the Congo (according to my research), so I used wood to spell out SOS. I then thought it would be great to create some kind of wood platform to elevate us to create another visual that would move. Since there is an abundance of trees, 4 people would be moving a large group of tree branches on the platform (the dots are blue to assume everyone would be wearing their buff on their head to be a little more visible from the sky). 2 people would be carrying/moving the flag all around since our tribe flag (color) is vibrant and would capture attention. I just started the animation and it would have a crapload more frames (which will take no time), but I wanted to see what everyone thought and if anyone had any suggests in terms of adding or removing any elements? I'm going to work on getting something finalized early afternoon after reading suggestions here. P.S. - since we technically can't see what it looks like from the sky, I wanted to try and keep everything realistic by not making everything perfect i.e. the SOS looking the way it looks.

Looks great Chris This is kind of what I had been working on to see what people thought I was thinking we could say we dug a trench from a nearby river to spell out SOS. This is like a birds eye view of the land so I was thinking we also built giant dirt piles and stacked wood in the shape of "HELP". We also outlined our man-made river with sand and stones to help contrast it a bit better. Also the animation in the picture is just the water flowing

That is...amazing. Maybe we can combine the one you made with the one Chris made? I looove the way the river looks, so maybe we can add the moving flag that Chris has onto the one you made?
